As rightly quoted, "A generation which ignores history has no past and no future".

Ayodhya – a timeless journey through history and mythology is a city where the past seamlessly blends with the present, making it a unique tourist destination of India. A place filled with religious significance and rich heritage is a must-visit destination in Uttar Pradesh.

The city not only has temples and religious places, but it also has museums, gardens and lakeside memorials, which add to the city's beauty. One such place is Tulsi Udyan, which is also amongst the most visited places of Ayodhya.

Beyond the mere existence of a typical garden, Tulsi Udyan is a testament to Ayodhya's historical eminence, where every flower and every leaf seems to whisper tales of reverence, cultural significance, and the poetic melodies of its namesake, the great sage Tulsidas.

All about Tulsi Udyan

Tulsi Udyan was established in honour of the renowned saint-poet Tulsi Das, a strong follower of Lord Rama and the author of the famous epic Ramcharitmanas.

The Udyan Vibhag, a division of the Government of Uttar Pradesh, currently oversees the administration of this garden.

Initially, this garden was known as "Victoria Park" in tribute to Queen Victoria of England, with a statue of Queen Victoria at its entrance. However, in 1960, it was officially renamed "Tulsi Udyan" in honour of the great saint-poet Goswami Tulsidas.

As soon as you step into Tulsi Udyan, you will be greeted by the wonderful beauty of nature. You will be amazed to see all the green plants, colourful flowers, and calm water areas. The garden is designed carefully so you can enjoy nature at its best.

There are lots of different types of plants in Tulsi Udyan. Walking by the garden, you will see different varieties of trees, bushes, and flowers. Some of the most special ones include mango trees, neem trees, roses, marigolds, and even plants that can be used for medicine. This garden also holds historical importance.

A statue of Tulsi Das has been placed under an intricately designed shelter within the garden. It is a peaceful and calming spot where you can unwind and enjoy some quiet, peaceful time. You can even have a family picnic or gathering in this garden. The place also has a play area for children.

The garden is meticulously cleaned and cared for, making the place more eco-friendly. It also shows the effort the city puts into keeping the place for future generations.
